Markus Stenz conducts "Die Gezeichneten" in Munich
Markus Stenz will conduct three performances of the opera "Die Gezeichneten" ("The Stigmatized") by Franz Schreker in Munich (Nationaltheater München, 12, 15, and 19 May 2018).
In this opera, which bases on a play by Franz Wedekind, the physically disfigured Alviano Salvago appears condemned to a life without love and erotic fulfilment. He devotes all his energy to creating a perfect – if artificial – world, in accordance with his vision – the island of Elysium.
Yet, this beautiful utopia has a dark side...
